Just like the NFL playoffs, fresh faces and perennial favorites in the movie industry each took home wins Sunday night with the Golden Globes.
Long-standing champs like Nicholson, Streep and Scorsese (plus, of course, the Oakland Raiders) scored big in their categories. Relative newcomers to the big game like Renee Zellweger, Richard Gere and writer/director Alexander Payne (and the Tampa Bay Bucs) each received well-deserved victories.
The Hours and Chicago won for the best films of the year. (Ironically, the Bears didn't even come close to the playoffs.)
The Globes virtually serve as playoffs to the Super Bowl of them all, the Oscars. The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences announces their nominees on Feb. 11 with the Super Sunday 'championship' coming Mar. 23.
