Move over Titanic, there's a new Spider 'on top of the world.'
It's only inevitable with such blockbuster movies as Spider-Man, Men In Black II and the recently released xXx that Columbia Tristar would be rolling in the money this year, but no one expected this. Thanks to a wide selection of high performing titles, Columbia set a new record last week by surpassing $1.27 billion in domestic theater ticket sales.
And while Titanic still holds the crown for a single release with over $600 million in the tills, Columbia should set a high mark with several high profile releases targeted for the 4th quarter, including 8 Crazy Nights, Maid In America (formerly The Chambermaid) and Adaptation.
